  • Lady Gaga Fashion On Normal Girls

A few weeks ago I was down at the Crossroads District in Kansas City for the annual First Fridays Art Gallery shows. I go whenever I can. I like looking at art made by the locals. There's always interesting characters down there, mostly hippies, but hey, I date one who hangs out with lots of them, so I guess that makes me semi-hippie (I bathe and at one time was republican.)

Anyway, I was in one gallery walking around looking at some paper meche art covered in staples (seriously, it was pretty cool) and then I looked over to see a blond haired girl. My first thought was, "HOLY CRAP, Lady Gaga? In Kansas City? In this very gallery? Nooooo way!"

What made me think this was the interesting (crazy in a way) outfits that Lady Gaga (a singer) wears out in public and on stage.

Then I realized, no. It was not Lady Gaga. It was Lady Gaga inspired fashion IN PUBLIC. Something I did not fathom I would ever see in public here in KC.

The picture is a little blurry, because honestly, do you think I'd be rude enough to use a flash? Sneaky photography is my thing when doing covert operations for Xanga posts. The outfit up close as I walked past her (well, I kinda followed her) was handmade. Of course, anything like this would have to be handmade. The Gap nor Old Navy does not sell odd leotard outfits.

I give the girl huge kudos. I don't think I could be brave enough to wear something this different. Celebrities can get away with wearing pretty much anything. Normal people, eh not so much. The girl did a great job on the outfit but I think I would have paired it with heels instead of flats...but then again, there's lots of walking to be done at First Fridays, so function before fashion sometimes must be sacrificed.

Oh the interesting things we see!

Ladies (or guys...) do you think you could pull off the Lady Gaga leotard outfit?

  • The Free Panty

If you were to open my panty drawer to my tall dresser you'd find nothing but Victoria's Secret panties. I'm an addict, I'll admit it. I have roughly over 50 pairs. ;)

    But I have a secret. It's Victoria's Secret I think.

Out of my large collection, about 30 pairs were FREE.

    That's $7.50 a pair. That's a lot of money saved.

My secret? Every time Victoria's Secret sends me coupons in the mail or online to my email address I print out and take in my coupons to redeem the panties. The coupons come to me, my sister, and oddly my dad... I only redeem the coupons and make no purchases, but each time I go to the store, my name is reentered into their system, hence more coupons go to my address because I give them a landline phone number. I've been told cell phone numbers in store systems void out because it's not connected to an address.

When I do shop at Victoria's Secret I only buy during the Semi-Annual on marked down items. I take advantage of coupons for half-off bras and $10 off coupons on the 5 for $25. If you shop smart, you save and get rewarded!!

Do you do this at Victoria's Secret or other stores that offer lots of coupons?

I sometimes feel like I'm stealing with all my free panties! Oh well, thanks Victoria!

  • Product Review : Clinique's Superfit Makeup

I've always hated foundation. I have very oily skin that is prone to break-outs occasionally. So to add foundation to my face is like adding gasoline to a fire. It's just a bad idea.

I received a free sample of Clinique's Superfit Makeup in an issue of Cosmopolitan and I decided to try it out. I was impressed that it advertised that it was oil-free, and was a long wear makeup. I went to the Clinique counter at my local Macy's and purchased a bottle. It's small, about the size of the picture actually and cost around $25. The Clinique sales girl matched the shade to my skin (although I think I could have stood a darker shade than what she picked honestly).

I wore it for about a week, following my normal skin care regiment. I noticed the Clinique started to cause blackheads and made my face oilier towards the end of the day. Bummer. I paid $25, so I do still use it, but only when I really need to wear foundation. It's not my miracle foundation, but it's better than Cover Girl by far.

I think I prefer Almay's Smart Shade honestly. Plus Almay is half the price.

Do you use Clinique's Superfit Makeup?

  • Product Review : Sally Hansen's Nailgrowth Miracle

I purchased this little bottle of gold the other day from Wal-mart for a couple dollars. I have always had brittle nails that would be thin and break quickly. Unfortunately I could never grow long nails. If I wanted long nails, I had to apply fake nails (and I'm not big on the damage fake nails cause).

I was skeptical about this little bottle. I applied it and it just seemed like the same stuff that a 99 cent bottle of clear nail polish was. The directions state that you apply one thin coat every other day.

Day one, I applied a thin layer.

    Day two, did nothing.

Day three, applied another thin coat.

    Day four, did nothing.

Around day 6-7 I realized, I had screwed up. I wasn't seeing really any results.

I used finger nail polish remover and took off the 3-4 layers I had applied and started over.

    Day 8, I applied a thin layer.

    Day 9, did nothing.

Day 10, REMOVED the original layer and applied a new coat.

    AH-HA!

After a week or so of applying and removing and reapplying, I saw dramatic results!! My nails were so long I was having trouble removing my contacts! The nails are thicker, longer, and very pretty. They also have a nice shine to them due to the polish.

I highly recommend Sally Hansen's Nailgrowth Miracle if you have thin, brittle, breaking nails.

Plus, make sure to file them occasionally to prevent snags and keep a nice shape.

Have you ever used this little golden bottle miracle?
